Gisela Cabrera

Gisela Cabrera, Senior Academic Advisor

Originally from Cuba, Gisela became a Miami resident in 1973 after living in Puerto Rico for many years. Her employment experience includes working in the radio business and other educational institutions. She came to FIU in 1992 where she worked in both campus life, and admissions/registration. After earning a B.A. in Psychology at FIU, she began her academic advising career at the College of Arts, Sciences & Education's Center for Academic Services in 2007. In addition to her current student case load for Liberal Studies, Interdisciplinary Studies, and Women’s & Gender Studies, Gisela focuses in helping transient students as well as posting the foreign language requirement for the College.

Stephanie Hess Soto

Stephanie Hess Soto, Senior Academic Advisor

Stephanie is from a small city on the west coast of Florida. She has been at Florida International University since 2011 and advising since 2013. As an Academic Advisor, Stephanie enjoys using different types of technology to connect with students. Stephanie completed her Bachelor's in Business Management at the University of Central Florida and her Master’s in Higher Education Administration at Florida International University. In her free time, she enjoys reading, watching TV, playing tennis, and cooking new recipes.

Ivana Aronovski

Ivana Aronovski, Academic Advisor

Ivana is an alum, having received both a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Master's in Higher Education Administration from FIU. She is full of panther pride and “bleeds gold and blue”. Having experience as both a student and academic advisor, Ivana can attest to FIU’s unparalleled devotion to the pursuit of discovery and its application in the student’s personal growth. She enjoys collaborating with students as they develop and pursue their educational, personal and career goals and understands the importance of her role in their acclimation to the university, its resources and culture. She presently works within the College of Arts, Sciences and Education, advising students on a variety of programs, including those that are fully online. When not working, she enjoys water activities, watching TV and playing with her kids.
